Assessment of Stability and Power Quality Challenges in Power Electronics Converters Using Power Hardware-in-the-Loop Testing

At a glance

Description

With the increasing integration of Power Electronics Converters (PECs) into electrical grids, addressing stability and power quality issues has become crucial. The complexity and variability of PECs and their control interactions can significantly impact grid performance, especially under weak grid conditions.

This project aims to develop, validate, and implement innovative methods to mitigate these challenges, ensuring reliable and stable grid operations. Moreover, the tools developed can be used to update and improve existing converter models and control structures.

The recommendations provided as out-comes of this project will address how to cope with the increasing number of converters and their related complex challenges regarding stability and power quality, thereby allowing for more renewable energy integration and electrification.
