Consultancy

The Institute of Translation and Interpreting (IUED) works at the interface between multilingualism, language technology and creativity. We work with you to develop tailored solutions aimed at optimising your language processes and to ensure the efficient use of valuable human resources. We help you turn multilingualism into an advantage in your communication. We will advise you, support your projects and develop language management solutions that are customised to meet your needs. We look forward to hearing from you!

What we offer

We offer science-based consultancy services and tailored workshops on the topics listed below. Our target audience are language service providers and language professionals as well as multilingual organisations and companies from a variety of professional fields.

Systematic and science-based solutions

The consultancy services of the IUED reflect the institute’s core competencies. They serve as a basis for quotations that include service definitions, continuing education concepts, project plans and budgets. We design our business and consultancy services to meet your needs. We support clients from the language industry and public institutions with respect to continuing education, the use of technology and the management of multilingualism.

By analysing problems and other concerns clients may have, we are able to develop systematic, science-based solutions and assist clients in their implementation. The objective is to enable these professions to derive direct practical benefit from the insights provided by linguistics and communication studies as well as the IUED’s own research.

The advantages offered by science-based consultancy services are as follows:

What our clients say

"We discussed the list in our core team and will use the terms in both our analogue and digital texts from now on. We have already adapted our new text modules for the website and print media. The terminology list can be drawn on as a tool by everyone who creates content.[…] For us, it is a valuable instrument that we can build on and that contributes to ensuring a uniform appearance."

Silvia Knoebel, Finances & Management Support, Milani Design & Consulting AG

"The expertise and pedagogical skills allowed my team to choose the right computer-based program. This was done in a very pleasant atmosphere. We would contact the ZHAW again should we have any other needs in the area of machine translation."

Cristina Martínez, translator and editor, Swiss Cancer League

"We found the organisation and collaboration to be very pleasant, professional and interesting. During the workshop, the ZHAW specialists illustrated the current state of research and impressed us with practical exercises. We were able to take huge steps forwards in terms of our effectiveness and quality in the area of post-editing."

Corina Ramsauer, Employee Success Manager, Diction Ltd

"New insights, food for thought and discussion material – we were able to take away all this from an extremely interesting workshop on easy-to-read language and plain language. We would like to express our thanks to the course instructors for highlighting the urgency of the topic to us and equipping us with the requisite knowledge to embark on an appropriate path in this field."

Benjamin Tommer, Head of Communication, General Secretariat – Department of Justice and Internal Affairs of the Canton of Zurich
