Offers for incoming students
Switzerland is home to four official national languages. The School of Applied Linguistics is the only department dedicated to the field of linguistics at a Swiss university of applied sciences and is one of the biggest of its kind in Europe. So where better to deepen the scope of your language studies than with us?

A semester abroad with us is worthwhile for anyone who wants to experience and explore multilingualism in everyday life. We look forward to getting to know you if you are studying to pursue a language profession and speak German at a B2 level.

Application
In order to apply for a Bachelor's degree programme at the ZHAW, you must be enrolled on a Bachelor's degree programme in your home country. If a partnership agreement exists between your university and the ZHAW, you must be nominated by your home university to study at the ZHAW. Please contact the academic coordinators at your home university in this regard.
All incoming students to the ZHAW must register via the Mobility-Online portal to reserve a spot for their semester abroad. We will contact you as soon as we have received and verified your registration.

Costs
Incoming students from our partner network pay the semester fee at their home university. There are no semester fees for them at the ZHAW.
We are also happy to receive applications from students outside our partner network (free movers). Free movers pay tuition fees of CHF 720 per semester, with additional fees of CHF 555 also applying to foreign students.
Internship
Incoming students can complete an internship in one of our main research areas. If you are interested, please contact the team of the corresponding research area to find out if there is a suitable internship opportunity.

Tandem
While studying at the ZHAW, you can improve your German (and other languages) by learning in Tandem and meeting regularly with someone who is a native speaker in the language in which you want to improve. You help each other improve your language skills and get together in an informal setting either in person or online.
Language courses
Additional fee-based language courses, such as German for exchange students, are offered at the ILC Institute of Language Competence.
