Conference on "Barrier-free Communication: Methods and Products"
The conference "Barrier-free Communication: Methods and Products" took place on 15 and 16 September 2017 at the School of Applied Linguistics in Winterthur. The conference was held as part of the project "Proposal and implementation of a Swiss research centre for barrier-free communication", approved by swissuniversities and funded by federal contributions.
The conference aimed to provide a forum for exploring how access to higher education in Switzerland can be facilitated for students with impairments by developing models and processes to foster barrier-free or at least low-barrier access to information and teaching materials. The conference sessions covered the following thematic areas:
- Audio description and audio introduction
- Easy-to-read language, plain language and citizen-oriented language
- Live-subtitling
- Web-accessibility
- Sign language
- Community interpreting
