Energy shortage – Strengthening the energy supply together

To ensure that energy is not in short supply this winter, the Federal Council is calling on the Swiss population and economy to save electricity. The ZHAW views it as a matter of urgency that it assumes responsibility for ensuring energy security this winter and has put together a number of easy-to-implement energy-saving tips that will allow us to cut our energy consumption by adopting common measures.

For the ZHAW, it is of the utmost priority to ensure that university operations are maintained and that both its teaching and research infrastructure are secured, even in the event of an energy shortage. To this end, the ZHAW moved this summer to set up an Energy Shortage Task Force, which will analyse the situation on an ongoing basis, carefully consider possible scenarios and develop appropriate measures.

With its energy-saving measures, the ZHAW will make an important contribution to strengthening the energy supply and will help to avoid a potential energy shortage in Switzerland. The aim is for as many people as possible to voluntarily play their part so that more far-reaching measures by the federal government or the Canton of Zurich can be avoided.
