Internationalisation@home

At the ZHAW, we place great emphasis on the practical relevance of our programmes and research. This, in turn, means that we are committed to conveying international competencies, not only by encouraging our students to spend a semester studying or working abroad during their studies, but also through our Internationalisation@home (I@H) opportunities here in Switzerland.

To succeed in today's job market, you need foreign language skills, intercultural competencies and an open mind. These skills and qualities are essential if you want to be a valued member of an international team, to engage in successful dealings with foreign clients or to play an active part in a globalised world.

You can take advantage of our I@H opportunities by:

If you want to go one step further, you can study a degree programme taught in English or complete a Bachelor's programme with an international profile. The ZHAW also offers numerous language courses to allow students to improve their language skills. Students from abroad can prepare for their degree programme or continuing education course at the ZHAW by taking a German course here before they begin – or they can attend a course during their studies.

“Studying to become a civil engineer at the ZHAW gave me the chance to start an international career – which I probably wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. Thanks to my studies, I have a better understanding of the technical implications and interconnections when it comes to decision-making. And this is a great advantage in my current position as COO.”
