Spinal health among the Swiss equine population
In collaboration with the University of Zurich’s Vetsuisse Faculty, physiotherapy researchers investigated the influence of riders’ competence and physical condition on the health of horses.
Horses are often found to have spinal problems - along with diseases of the musculoskeletal system - when taken to the vet’s, and these can have a detrimental effect on both performance and ridability. Using the Institute of Physiotherapy’s mobile movement laboratory, 236 horse-and-rider pairs were examined in various locations.
