The ZHAW School of Management and Law's MSc in International Business makes it into the Financial Times ranking

On Monday, 28 September 2020, the ZHAW School of Management and Law made it into the top rankings of the Financial Times (FT) for the first time. Only the top 90 management programs worldwide are included in the FT Masters in Management ranking.

This is the first time the ZHAW School of Management and Law has been included in the ranking of the world's best Master's programs, and immediately made it to 64th place. In the "Value for Money" sub-category, the ZHAW School of Management and Law was even ranked first.

This distinction is due to the school’s “Master in International Business” program. In Switzerland, only ZHAW and the Universities of St. Gallen and Lausanne feature in the ranking of the world's best Master's programs in management. This constitutes a unique selling point for ZHAW in the Zurich Metropolitan Area.

In addition, the Financial Times ranked the ZHAW School of Management and Law fifth among its "Top for International Business" programs. Also at the top are the University of St. Gallen, Global 3 (McIntire/Lingnan/Easade), Esade Business School, and Antwerp Management School. ZHAW is even placed ahead of WU Vienna and Queen's University.

Hard Work Results in Ranking

"We worked hard to achieve this ranking. The fact that we have now been included confirms that we offer quality training for specialists and executives," states Petra Barthelmess, the Head of Program. “The program is an intensive and rigorous course of study that prepares students for a career as international managers. The effort is worthwhile, however: Career prospects are excellent.” This high level of quality is pursued right from the start using a strict selection process and is a strong priority throughout. According to Barthelmess, "to ensure high professional competence, all students must have a good Bachelor's degree in business administration and pass an admission test.”

An International Setting

The reason why the MSc program has been included in this year’s global FT Masters in Management list ranking 64th is its special curriculum. The program’s structure reflects the international setting graduates will encounter in their future professional careers. The students themselves are a heterogeneous group of people with a range of nationalities. The language of instruction is English.

This Placement Supports Our Strategy

"In achieving this ranking among of the world's best Master's programs for prospective managers and management specialists, ZHAW implements its strategy of positioning itself as a leading university in Switzerland with an international reach concerning both its academic programs and its research in business and management," says Reto Steiner, Dean of the ZHAW School of Management and Law, who is extremely pleased about this news.
