SMARTCAT – Development of a „smart concept“ for a biogas upgrade by continuous CO2 methanation
Description
The aim of the project is the development and demonstration of a new concept for a continuously operated CO2 methanation reactor for organic sources. On base of a novel and innovative concept, a self-regenerating sorption catalyst (SMARTCAT), it has to be demonstrated how residual CO2 from biogas plants can be efficiently converted with regenerative hydrogen (RH2) to an enriched and pure methane stream. The methane should be of such a quality already after the conversion that it can directly injected into the existing natural gas grid.
