Enhanced prothesis for children finger replacements
Description
Children born without hands or fingers and children who were victims of accidents in which they lost fingers or hands are the focus of our project. The goal of this work is to give them better fingers at a lower cost.The disadvantages of traditional designs are the high cost, weight, high forces to hold objects, and low control while holding. In contrast, children with artificial fingers need fingers that are easy to use, impervious to dirt, and difficult to break.The minimal functionality of prosthetic hands and fingers, the sparse funding from the health care system, the constant growth of the child, and the lack of funding in many regions of the world are issues of our concern.The project is supported by a children's advocacy group and driven by the ambition of researchers and manufacturers to develop better prosthetic fingers for more of the world's children.
