Winterthur can implement both a strategy project and three individual implementation projects as part of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy Front Runner programme with the help of the "SwissEnergy for municipalities" programme. The strategy project aims to link the Smart City Winterthur strategy with the Energy and Climate Concept 2050 (EKK2050) by examining which aspects of the 2000-watt/net-zero society can be incorporated more strongly into the Smart City strategy. The ZHAW Institute for Sustainable Development supports the city of Winterthur in this process.
