Meta-Study on Local Climate Action and NDCs
Description
The implementation and impact of climate action committed under the Paris Agreement can only be monitored if climate action can be traced from countries' Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) back to local climate activities. Based on six country case studies produced by local partners in Brazil, Burkina Faso, Colombia, Georgia, Israel and Switzerland, this project elaborates a meta-study that compares the case study findings in terms of (i) transparency in target-setting, (ii) transparency in monitoring and evaluation, and (iii) local climate action in the energy sector. These findings are used to derive recommendations for the NDC, Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) and Global Stocktake (GST) processes under the Paris Agreement.
