Control platform for gallium nitride-based power converter
Description
Main question to be addressed is the feasibility assessment of a controller suitable for GaN-based power converters. The duty cycle of the power converter is modulated within each control interval with a pulse wide modulated (PWM) signal, which needs to be provided with an accuracy of at least 10 bits. This resolution of the duty cycle combined with a control frequency of 1 MHz leads to a resolution of 1 nano-second with which it must be possible to control the PWM signal. Aim is to achieve a delay including sampling, calculation of a single controller and modulating the PWM-reference which is even shorter than the control calculation time (by using for example Double Update of PWM-reference).
