In the pilot project ‘Schwammstadt Winterthur - Zwinglistrasse infiltration channel research project’, the existing infiltration channel on Zwinglistrasse is being scientifically monitored and documented on behalf of the city of Winterthur. The aim of the project is to further develop the existing infiltration channel. Now that the channel and a similar channel in Zurich have been analysed and observed, concrete measures are to be taken to ensure correct infiltration. Several substrates and in some cases suitable planting are to be found and used, which can filter and infiltrate the road runoff under the difficult climatic conditions. The various substrates are to be tested for a year and the results evaluated so that recommendations for action / catalogues of measures can be issued.
