Developing the cultivation of saffron in Switzerland and Pakistan by determining the prone areas based on the dataset of the saffron cultivation areas in Iran

Description

The cultivation of saffron as a high value plant producing one of the most expensive spices in the world can lead to the development of agriculture and the development of rural areas. This project is an attempt to answer the question of whether Switzerland and Pakistan are suitable for saffron cultivation or not. At the end of this project, we have two main outputs:

  1. the preparation of a map determining the suitable areas for saffron cultivation in Switzerland and Pakistan, and
  2. a technical knowledge package for saffron cultivation.

These will ultimately lead to the development of saffron cultivation and the development of agricultural (local) communities. Due to its high added value and low irrigation requirement, saffron cultivation can play an important role in dealing with climate change.
