Biogas Plants For Small and Mid-size Farms (Manure2Power)
NextGas vision is a decentralised energy production based on manure (biomass). For example, with around 25 dairy cows 16 m3/h methane, 16 kW electrical and 34 kW thermal power can be generated.
Description
The objective is to develop, build and test a functional model of the process engineering system for methane gas production on small and medium-sized farms so that the heat and electricity produced can be used for the farm's own needs. This reduces the footprint of dairy farms and provides a basis for opening up further areas of application (other types of biomass).
The core components of the development are the bioreactor (fermentation tank) and its auxiliary units for the manure, the control system for controlling and regulating the fermentation process (e.g. mass flow, temperature and pressure), its monitoring and data acquisition and the associated Digital Twin Framework, so that each plant can be optimised individually and ultimately in the overall network.
