Bio-SODA Enables Intuitive Search over Complex Bioinformatics Databases to Better Understand the Functionality of Genes
Analyzing complex bioinformatics databases that contain information about cancer research or the functionality of genes is very hard. Typically, only highly trained specialists can sift through the data efficiently while medical doctors, biologists or other domain scientists are often excluded from fully accessing and understanding the data. The Bio-SODA project lead by Prof. Dr. Kurt Stockinger - a 4-year research collaboration between Zurich University of Applied Sciences, University of Lausanne, and the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics – has developed novel algorithms to intuitively search through complex databases and thus making them accessible for a wide range of users.
