Prof. Dr. Frank-Peter Schilling takes over role of Deputy at CAI
Prof. Dr. Frank-Peter Schilling has been appointed as the new deputy director at CAI, effective June 01, 2023.
Prof. Dr. Frank-Peter Schilling received his doctorate in physics from the University of Heidelberg, specializing in elementary particle physics. He then spent many years in research, including as a senior scientist and project leader at the European Research Center CERN in Geneva. There he was involved in the spectacular discovery of the Higgs particle in 2012. His intensive research activity is reflected in an extensive list of publications (h-index 150).
He joined ZHAW in 2018, first at the Institut for Applied Information Technology InIT and since its foundation in 2021 at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence CAI. His research focus is on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, especially in the field of Computer Vision, including applications in medical imaging.
Effective 01/06/2022, he has been appointed as a new lecturer at CAI with research interests in Computer Vision and MLOps. With his group he represents the topic MLOps (Machine Learning Operations) and takes over the coordination of all continuing education activities of the center.
Across the university, Frank-Peter Schilling is involved in the strategic initiative ZHAW Digital, in the ZHAW Datalab, and in doctoral student support.
