Development of the next generation of high-pressure pumps for sewer cleaning vehicles on future all-electric carrier vehicles

Description

The general trend towards sustainable products also has a major impact on sewer cleaning vehicles. In order to be prepared for the future and to be able to cover the market needs while at the same time complying with sustainability requirements, a technology change from combustion engines and oil hydraulics to a purely electric vehicle technology has to be carried out. This project is about the electrification of the core component of a sewer cleaning vehicle of the company KAISER AG, the KAISER pressure converter (KDU). This will have a direct impact on the KDU's ability to be integrated into electrified chassis and will lead to an overall increase in the efficiency and competitiveness of KAISER vehicles. Electrification will enable duct cleaning with zero emissions and zero consumption of potable water for a sustainable and clean future. As a first step, based on the use cases, the existing KDU will be analyzed and transformed into a numerical calculation model. Active valves are needed for the new KDU. These differ in size and type of actuation from the current passive valves. The previously created calculation model is used to scale and design the required dimension. Then the solution approach from the preliminary study of a two-piston high-pressure system with one controlled actuator and active valves each is designed. After approval, the concept is elaborated mechanically and electrically, and the control and regulation software is developed. Procurement, construction, testing and verification of a prototype are the final project steps. As a result, it should be possible to make a statement about the feasibility and practicability of an electric KDU.
