Sustainable studying in Wädenswil: everyday life design, use of resources, nutrition, housing and living (AWARE)

Description

The project AWARE aims to build a platform together with students and colleagues of the ICLS on the topics of sustainable studying in Wädenswil: everyday life design, use of resources, nutrition, housing and living. The contents of the platform are to be developed independently by students of the master course Food Society Nutrition (FSN) within the framework of group work existing in the course. This platform provides a practical implementation, application, and transfer of FSN course content into the everyday context. The following topics are in the foreground: What does sustainable behavior mean for students? How are sustainable behaviors integrated into one's everyday life? What "practices and competencies" are required for this? What can we learn from each other about this? What offers, information and assistance are available at Wädenswil? What are practices that we ourselves have learned and used to make our everyday life more sustainable? Many of these practices take place in private households, are learned and handed down there. These aspects are taught and elaborated in the FSN course from a scientific theoretical perspective. Through reflective transfer to their everyday study, students are invited and encouraged to reflect on their own actions and the environment in which they shape their everyday lives. Possible barriers to sustainable action and practices are thus to be explored, reflected upon and reconsidered. In addition, platforms provide opportunities to network and share experiences. FSN focuses on the food system and the socio-ecological-societal contexts. Our current eating behavior and everyday actions are subject to many different influencing factors and at the same time have an impact on our health, but also on our social, ecological and economic future. We live in a dynamic, complex everyday world that influences our eating habits and also sustainable actions. Conversely, our eating habits and everyday actions have an impact on our environment and thus on the world we live in today and will live in tomorrow. Diet and our everyday lives are relevant from a health and environmental perspective. Many studies on sustainable diets for the future show that current dietary habits around the world are irreversibly damaging the ecological balance, which must be prevented and/or reversed. This is the starting point for the platform to be created in order to put practical, applicable and tested information, offers and practices on this platform and thus make them available to all students at the Wädenswil location. The platform, which is planned as an interactive, open source, will be technically set up by the colleagues of the ICLS. The ICLS will provide instructions and an introduction on how to use and upload the content created by students. The individual milestones are shown below and will take place in stages.
