UAV On-Board Communication System
Analysis of the existing on-board communication network and identification of possible new technologies and architectures to reduce cycle times by one order of magnitude.
Result
Several options for communication technologies (both transmission technology and topologies) were analyzed and compared.
For the on-board network used today, a short term solution was identified that allow to use the full nominal bandwidth of the CAN bus.
Three basic architectures for further study were identified that can be subject to future research using advanced Ethernet technologies.
Description
ZHAW is to identify technologies for the new on-board communication and test their suitability.
The aim is to develop a high-performance, high-speed on-board network that allows the cycle times of the existing CAN solution to be reduced by an order of magnitude.
If possible, a selected technology is to be developed as a prototype.
