Networked Photography: Reading, Creating and Sharing
Teaching Visual Literacy for Children
Description
Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Daniel Süss, the ZHAW Media Psychology group and photography mediator Sabina Paries are developing a teaching aid on the subject of image skills for young people aged between 10 and 12. This project at the interface of practice and research is funded by the Doelker-Tobler Foundation and is being carried out in both German-speaking Switzerland and Germany. The resulting teaching material is intended to promote image reading skills and reading skills in young people and to support a conscious approach to increasingly visual environments. Images are addressed on various levels, such as creating and designing your own photographs or dealing with visual impressions from social networks or with AI-generated images. The teaching material is based on the media education theories of Christian Doelker.
