The importance of digital music for the well-being of young people in residential care (DigiMusic)
The importance of digital music for the subjective well-being of young people in residential child and youth welfare facilities.
Description
The practical research project examines the importance of digital music in everyday life at home. Music workshops were held over six afternoons with a group of young people aged 15-18. In these workshops, they produced digital music, i.e. worked with Garageband and created their first tracks. There was also the opportunity to record rhymes as well as beats.
These workshops were ethnographically researched. In addition, guided interviews were conducted to find out the young people's views on the importance of music in everyday life. In addition to digital music production, the focus was also on music consumption. The young people's experiences in the workshops were also of interest. All data was evaluated using qualitative analysis.
A short film about the workshops is currently being produced.
