Social Media als Forschungsfeld

Social media is currently one of the "hot" research topics. The EU FP7 Era.NET RUS project SoMeCat with project partners in Russia, Turkey, and Germany approaches the issue with the help of two main questions: 

• To what extent can social media be used for teaching, learning, and research at universities? To what extent is social media already in use here?
• Do diaspora groups use social media? If yes, which groups use social media and for what purpose? New insights should be gained in respect of the utilization of social media at universities from the synthesis of these two research questions. One of the outcomes of the project is a strategy aimed at decision-makers for the application of social media in teaching.
