Welcome to the ZHAW School of Management and Law!

We are pleased that you have decided to study at the ZHAW School of Management and Law and hope you will do well and enjoy your studies.

Welcome Day

Our studies will begin in calendar week 7 for direct entrants to the main degree program starting in the spring semester.
On Welcome Day you will receive all the information you need for a successful start to your studies.

We warmly welcome you and wish you an exciting and successful time at the ZHAW School of Management and Law!

For new students starting in the fall semester, the Welcome Days will take place in calendar week 37.

Welcome Day Spring Semester 2025 (entry to higher semesters): February 11, 2025
Welcome Days Fall Semester 2025: September 09 to 13, 2025

Registration or deregistration is not required.

Important: Submission of your Bachelor’s Degree Certificate
As one of the conditions for admission to the program, you will have to submit your Bachelors degree certificate (original copy).

The submission deadline is Friday, in calendar week 37, 4.00pm, with the exception of MSc International Business, in this case the Bachelors degree certificate must be submitted by Friday, calendar week 34, 4.00pm at the latest.

If you are unable to comply because you will not receive your degree certificate on time, please use our form Confirmation of Successful Completion of BSc Program (except MSc IB)(DOC 18,2 KB) and for the MSc International Business the following form Confirmation of Successful Completion of BSc Program (MSc IB).(DOC 18,2 KB)

Recognition of Learning (Dispensations)

Please note the detailed information in the application form. Applications for dispensation in the fall semester must be submitted no later than Calendar Week 33, those for the spring semester no later than Calendar Week 3.

Applications for dispensation have to be submitted on time even if some of the required information (e.g., grades) is not yet available. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Disadvantage Compensation

To apply for disadvantage compensation, please check the website of the ZHAW Advisory Office for Disadvantage Compensation (Beratungsstelle Nachteilsausgleich). You will find details about the requirements, procedures, and required certificates.

Deadlines
Please note the deadlines below for submitting your application for disadvantage compensation each semester. These vary by ZHAW school and scope (admission, performance assessments during the semester, end-of-module exams, etc.).

For the School of Management and Law, the following deadlines apply:

→ Spring semester, classes: CW (calendar week) 03
→ Spring semester, exams: CW 18

→ Fall semester, classes: CW 33
→ Fall semester, exams: CW 48

Information Technology

We have created a step-by-step guide for the registration of our key services (user account, notebook configuration und software download). You can find the guide in our Self-service portal. Click on Students, then New Student Orientation.

You will need a personal notebook for your studies. The minimum requirements (hardware, operating system) are also documented in the Self-service portal under New Student Orientation.

Literature List

You will find the literature from CW 34 (fall semester) and week 04 (spring semester) in the module descriptions under the heading “Module Tables / Module Descriptions” on the Intranet. The validity of the module description can be found in the semester information at the top left of the document.

We will publish a literature list (CW 37 / CW7) from the information in the module descriptions. Further information will follow separately by e-mail.

Useful Information A-Z (Intranet)

From mid-August, all important information about the start of the degree program, such as class assignments, time tables, compulsory reading, etc. will be available on the Intranet

Students who start their degree program in February (e.g. direct entry to the main degree programme) can access this information from mid-January.
