Launch of international business double degree between SML and Warsaw School of Economics

On 24th October, Dean André Haelg and Michael Farley, Head International Development and Projects, visited Warsaw to help launch the new double degree in international business and management between SML and Warsaw School of Economics (SGH). Dean Haelg and Prof. Jacek Prokop, Vice Rector for International Relations at SGH discussed the new double degree and explored wider opportunities for collaboration.

The double degree, which matches the SML MSc in International Business with the SGH Master in Global Business, Finance and Governance, is a two year, full-time program. It provides the opportunity to graduate students to simultaneously pursue a Master degree from SGH and SML. The double degree is arranged on a bilateral basis meaning students will only have to pay fees to either SGH or ZHAW.

SGH is the oldest university of economics in Poland, and is regarded as the leading school of economics and management in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2015, it was ranked #82 in the FT European Business School rankings.

Michael Farley said: “The School of Management and Law has had an active student exchange program with SGH for a number of years. The double degree not only strengthens this partnership but is also real recognition of the standing of our Master’s level programs.

“Students on the program will have to work hard to achieve both degrees in two years. The program, with one year of study in Poland and one in Switzerland, will also provide students with the opportunity to enhance their intercultural competencies and skills. This will certainly improve their future employment and career chances.”

During the visit to Warsaw, an information session for SGH students was held with Dean Haelg and Michael Farley presenting the ZHAW, the School of Management and Law and the MSc International Business program.

Also attending the launch of the double degree ceremony were Dr. Ewa Baranowska-Prokop, Dr. Izabela Bergel and Ms. Malgorzata Chromy from SGH.
