School of Management and Law Receives Coveted "Triple Crown"

ZHAW School of Management and Law (SML) is now accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA). In addition to AACSB and EQUIS, the SML has received its third international accreditation, which gives it exclusive triple crown status.

The ZHAW School of Management and Law was awarded AMBA accreditation in the form of an AMBA-BGA joint accreditation. This means that in addition to our MBA program, the organization as a whole has also been assessed by the Business Graduates Association (BGA). AMBA evaluates Master's programs – especially MBAs – and scrutinizes, among other things, the professional qualifications of teachers and lecturers. Following AACSB and EQUIS, this is the third international seal of quality of the highest significance for business schools. Together, these are considered the "triple crown" for business schools and are a strategically important way for the SML to have its performance mandates and organizational development externally and independently reviewed.

Professor Reto Steiner, Dean of the School of Management and Law

"The Triple Crown is a significant milestone, and we are very proud to be one of the best business schools in the world. The AMBA & BGA accreditation we have now achieved is further independent proof of the quality of our programs."

Professor Reto Steiner, Dean of the School of Management and Law

Triple Crown: International Accreditations for Business Schools

Triple Crown accreditations evaluate the SML from various perspectives. In addition to the new AMBA & BGA accreditation, the SML has been accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) since 2015. AACSB is regarded as the leading international agency for accreditation of business schools, and it certifies outstanding quality in research and degree programs. Only around six percent of all business schools worldwide bear this quality seal. AACSB evaluation focuses on degree program design, student support, the qualifications of teaching staff, and the overall impact on society (sustainability & ethics).

In 2023, the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) awarded EQUIS accreditation to the SML. EQUIS is awarded to business schools with high standards in degree programs, research, and continuing education. EQUIS accreditation focuses on strategic implementation in the university's operational areas. In addition, it evaluates progress in digitalization, internationalization, links to business partners, and the integration of ethics and sustainability.

In all these areas, the SML demonstrated to independent organizations that it is one of the leading business schools globally. Commented Reto Steiner, "Assessment of our performance areas by external independent organizations is very valuable as we constantly strive to develop further. In addition, our students and employees benefit from these memberships, and we can position ourselves more internationally."
