PRME Champions Meeting and 11th RMER Conference in Berlin
The second PRME Champions meeting of the 2024-2025 cohort took place in Berlin, Germany from 23- 24th September 2024 followed by the 11th Responsible Management Education Research (RMER) Conference hosted by the Berlin School of Business Innovation (BSBI).
Alexandra Grammenou, Research Associate and SML PRME Coordinator took part in a panel discussion about “Challenges and Successes in PRME Integration.” The session aimed to highlight good practices within business schools that are low-effort yet high-impact for PRME integration, with the goal of inspiring other Champion schools to adopt or adapt these practices.
The presentation showed the Sustainability Day@ SML as a best- case example that implements all 17 SDGs in an innovative way, while having positive impact among SML students and employees. The presentation received positive feedback and a lot of questions on how this could be implemented in other schools.
The PRME Champions meeting was a great opportunity to re-connect and exchange with colleagues from all over the world on important initiatives like the Manifesto on SDG 4 and other ongoing PRME Champion projects, where the ZHAW School of Management and Law is actively participating namely:
- Co-developing pedagogical teacher support for enhanced sustainability integration in Higher education, led by Aalto University School of Business, Finland.
- Best practices on Business School Sustainability Reporting under the new PRME reporting guidelines, led by Loughborough Business School, United Kingdom
11th RMER conference
The 11th RMER conference followed the PRME Champions meeting and was focused on the theme “Doing the next step: Responsible Management Education between Transforming and Radicalizing”. The conference which was co-organized by the PRME DACH Chapter in collaboration with the PRME Working Group on Anti-poverty and PRME Working Group on Climate Change and Environment offered interesting workshops, insightful panel discussions and keynote speeches and a great networking experience among scholars, who are change agents in the field of RME. Alexandra Grammenou presented in Track 10: Integrating Ethics, Transparency, Sustainability Management and Humanism Education in Graduate Management Programmes: Challenges, Strategies and Best Practices bringing best-practice examples from ZHAW SML.
Three ZHAW SML students, Master’s student in International Business Theresa Schott and Master’s student in Circular Economy Management Luna Sagasser and Bachelor’s student in Business Administration Lazar Tomasevic, participated in the SDG Design Jam that gathered students from the PRME DACH Chapter to discuss sustainability challenges in their study or working environment with renowned experts and practitioners in a World Café.
