Stricter Swiss investment controls: Khaldoun Dia-Eddine in SRF Interview
In the SRF programme "Echo der Zeit", Khaldoun Dia-Eddine from the ZHAW Center for Global Competitiveness comments on a legislative initiative by the Swiss Nationalrat.
"These sovereign wealth funds are looking for income, a return on investment. In Switzerland, we offer them something like that, especially in certain sectors that are very interesting, whether it's in the pharmaceutical industry or in tourism. There, they find relative security that the investment will go in the right direction."
When foreign investors want to take over Swiss companies, they should be subject to stricter controls in the future. This is the will of the Swiss Nationalrat. The trigger for the new legislative project was the acquisition of the Swiss agrochemical company Syngenta by the state-owned company ChemChina in 2017. Khaldoun Dia-Eddine from the ZHAW Center for Global Competitiveness speaks on the SRF program "Echo der Zeit."
