External lecturer: Paula Cipierre

Paula Cipierre has been Director of Data Ethics and Innovation at ada Learning GmbH since January 2024. Prior to that, she was responsible for data protection and data ethics at Palantir Technologies in Europe. She graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in French literature, European cultural studies, and Near Eastern studies. She then went on to earn master's degrees in Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University. Most recently, she completed an LLM in Information Technology Law with distinction at the University of Edinburgh while working full time. Paula is a certified data protection officer (GDDcert. EU), certified information security auditor/lead auditor (TÜV Süd), certified information privacy professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and AI governance professional (AIGP) (both from the IAPP).

Paula co-authored the book "From Artificial to Augmented Intelligence: What we can learn from art to shape the future with software." She received a 2023 McCloy Fellowship on Global Trends from the American Council on Germany to conduct research in Berlin, New York and D.C. on "German and U.S. Perspectives on AI Governance," and was named an Atlantik-Brücke Young Leader in 2024. Paula lives and works in Berlin.
