On the trail of the “tomato brown rugose fruit virus”
The “tomato brown rugose fruit virus” attacks tomato and pepper plants, jeopardising Swiss agriculture in the process. Joël Pothier is conducting research into the early detection of the virus and reports in the video on how he is searching for clues to make this possible.
Swiss agriculture has been put at risk by the tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV). This virus can destroy entire crops of tomatoes and peppers. The scientist Dr Joël F. Pothier from the Environmental Genomics and Systems Biology Research Group is working together with three research partners on a method to unambiguously detect the virus at an early stage.
