Consumer Evaluation: Audience Award

Since 2002, the ZHAW - Zurich University of Applied Sciences has been organizing awards for "extra virgin" olive oil. Participating olive oils are tasted by an expert panel, objectively evaluated, and awarded (Gold, Silver, Bronze). The Olive Oil Award (OAA) is a unique competition that, in addition to the judgment of a professional jury, also includes consumer popularity.

All extra virgin olive oils from the Olive Oil Award – Zurich additionally participate in a consumer test (acceptance test) in the same calendar year. In this popularity test, at least 60 consumer opinions per olive oil are collected to ensure statistically significant results. The top-ranked olive oils receive the audience award "OLIO".
