Swiss Energy System
Discover our research projects on the Swiss energy system: From decentralized renewable energies to job potentials and CO₂ reduction costs, as well as supply security and personal responsibility in climate protection, we offer in-depth analyses and innovative tools for the energy transition in Switzerland.
Projects
The Renewable Energies Research Group is part of the project team for the SWEET EDGE project. It investigates how decentralized, renewable energy sources can be optimally installed, operated, and integrated into the Swiss energy system along with European networking. SWEET EDGE
What is the potential of personal responsibility in climate protection? The Renewable Energies Research Group has examined this potential in comparison to political regulations. The conclusion: Voluntary action alone is not enough. Study on Personal Responsibility
The study on jobs examines the domestic value creation, jobs, and macroeconomic costs that the accelerated expansion of renewable energies and energy efficiency in Switzerland would generate. Study on Jobs
Our study on the CO₂ reduction cost curve, created in collaboration with AEE Suisse and WWF Switzerland, shows that many climate protection measures do not incur costs but actually save money. CO2-Reduction Cost Curve
The prototype of the decarbonization calculator models the Swiss energy system. The user can make adjustments to the settings and investigate the impact on greenhouse gas emissions and electricity demand. Decarbonization Calculator
NEW: The Renewable Energies Research Group has developed and just published the study "Are there better alternatives to fossil power plants for ensuring Switzerland's electricity supply? An analysis and interpretation of various studies on electricity supply security." A press release was published on March 8, 2023.
