The project is focused on the creation of a drone test center for outdoor activities in the area of the Lodrino airfield. The center would collaborate strategically with other swiss UAV test locations, in particular with Dübendorf, as part of Park Zurich as our main Park site, and in second priority Payerne. Themain goal is related to the creation of new airspace sectors for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). It will be an outdoor test area approved by FOCA tofacilitate access for UAV outdoor testing becoming a sandbox (outdoor Lab) at Swiss and EU level for UAV flights. Small tests are already possible in Lodrinobut to enhance attractiveness they should be expanded in height and horizontally or find additional spaces that allow for BVLOS conditions. In addition, the creation of test outdoor area will be developed for Counter UAV technologies as well (detection, identification, interdiction, action) allowing the development of these technologies in synergy with the UAV flight activitiesand other ones at the airport. Eventually,the goal is to create a sort of "Label" for Tests &Certifications of UAVs. The test center around Lodrino could potentially becomean accredited UAV "certification" center where UAV designers andcontractors can verify their UAVs according to regulators (FOCA and EU).
