Feasibility study: Investigation of the use of the Dynapic Piezo as energy harvesting source for embedded wireless systems

Beschreibung

The Dynapic® Piezo is a very robust and yet affordable device, presently used in keyboard applications, powered by mains or batteries. A very small amount of energy is produced each time the piezo is mechanically activated. This work purposes to investigate the use of the Dynapic® piezo as a power source for embedded applications that run on energy harvesting. Especially, ways to increase the quantity of energy generated will be looked into. Elements needed to improve the energy output and to allow applications to run autonomously will be designed, built and tested. The aim is to be able to generate enough energy in order to be able to power transceivers found on the market. The study will show if and how the Dynapic® Piezo could be used to enable new robust and versatile energy autonomous applications.
