In this study we estimated the burden of smoking in Switzerland for 2015. We estimated mortality, YLL, DALYs, direct medical costs and productivity losses. We also forecasted mortality attributable to smoking up to 2050. We calculated smoking attributable fractions and extracted DALYs from the GBD study. The direct medical costs were extracted from the study of NCDs in Switzerland. The prevalence was obtained from the SGB and was combined with RR from the general surgeon report. The prognosis was based on data from 1995 to 2015.
