On-chain Microcredentials Architecture and Open Source Toolbox Prototype
Beschreibung
Digital records of academic achievements, especially in the form of microcredentials, are becoming a strategic topic for universities and education-related government agencies. Moreover, private entities (employers, loan-granting banks) rely on trustworthy digital records with differentiated access levels to details. The Internet Computer is especially suited to design, implement and operate a microcredentials application at this scale. Based on initial experimental work within ZHAW, this focused research project ensures that a common open codebase for microcredentials management is achieved, evolving into a modular/configurable toolbox, and the rollout in markets such as Switzerland and India, and any future projects which can be supported. This ambition requires additional research such as flexible meta-modelling of academic certificates, manually curated datasets for comparison, and joint activities to ensure that needs of stakeholders such as students, universities, education-related government agencies and future employers of alumni are addressed.
