Using easyIRT to enhance PROFINET communication a new design of wind turbine power controller was enabled. By controlling the inverters it is possible to synchronise the injection of generated energy with the current network phase. This reduces the reactive power component to an absolute minimum.

easyIRT also allowed this control to be achieved with commercial off the shelf components.
