Tailcoat Week and Tailcoat Parade
Each year, the graduates of the ZHAW School of Engineering celebrate the end of their studies with what is known as the Frackwoche, or whitetie week. The male graduates sport white ties, tails and beards, while female graduates appear in elaborate Biedermeier gowns. This tradition dates back to 1925. After the final examinations, the graduating classes join the Frack parade with homemade vehicles as it makes its way through Winterthur’s Old Town. Finally, the beards are shaved off after a total of 100 days during the "Nacht der Technik" technology night.
