Campus Life
At the ZHAW School of Engineering, students study in the city center. The campuses in Winterthur and Zurich are located directly next to the old cities, offering a wide range of sports, extensive infrastructure, and reasonably priced meals in the canteen.

An attractive campus
The ZHAW School of Engineering campus is located within walking distance of Winterthur Main Railway Station and immediately adjacent to the city center. It offers extensive infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment, laboratories, hot spots with wireless LAN connection and a canteen.
Canteen and Cafeteria
The Winterthur campus has a canteen offering reasonably priced meals which change on a daily basis. It serves a wide selection of hot meals, salads, and hot and cold beverages on the first floor in building TN. A vegetarian menu is always available. In the Cafeteria which is also open on Saturday is located on the ground floor of the same building and offers small dishes, as well as with vending machines for snacks and drinks available at all times.
Infrastructure
The ZHAW School of Engineering offers students state-of-the-art infrastructure and a learning environment with computer workstations and well-equipped laboratories.All students are issued with a Campus Card the size of a credit card. This serves as identification for cash-free payment in the canteen and copy center as well as providing access to the buildings.
Each student also receives:

- access to the ZHAW network via individual network connections in all teaching and work rooms
- access to Intranet and Internet
- discounts when purchasing notebooks, pocket calculators and accessories in the Techshop

University library
The ZHAW university library is located close to Winterthur Main Railway Station. It offers students a state-of-the-art media, information, and learning center covering roughly 6,000 square meters. It comprises more than 120,000 types of media and approximately 700 individual and group workstations, as well as around 30 research stations and PC workstations across several floors. In addition, ZHAW students always have access to the building (24/7).
Leisure activities
The Erasmus Student Network is a Europe-wide student organization that actively promotes international exchange.
The local ESN Winterthur group enhances the study abroad experience for international students by organizing a full range of leisure activities throughout the semester with excursions, regular meetings, and parties.
All students automatically become members of ZHAW students' union “ALIAS” which also offers various activities.
Sports
The Academic Sports Association of Zurich (ASVZ) offers over 120 different sports in Winterthur and Zurich as an active way to achieve a healthy work-life balance. Students can benefit from an extensive infrastructure with modern sports equipment as well as knowledgeable, professional supervision. The ASVZ membership is free for our exchange students.
Counselling and Diversity
The ZHAW School of Engineering offers free and confidential counseling in a wide range of situations. The International Office is happy to put you in contact with the relevant advising centers, whether you are dealing with academic challenges, applying for specific academic accommodations in examinations, or going through personal crises and conflict situations. ZHAW is also committed to the participation and recognition of all students and staff, irrespective of age, origin, gender identity, ideology, or social status.
