Bachelor's degree Electrical Engineering: Specialisation
Mathematics and physics provide the scientific basis for all Electrical Engineering disciplines. Building on these, you will receive a subject-specific foundational education in subjects such as Electronics, Digital Technology, Signals and Systems, and Computer Science. In your third year of study you will specialise in one of three focus areas.
Specialisation Information Technology
Training in the "Information Technology" focus emphasises telecommunications, mobile communications, electronics and signal processing. Appropriate modules have to be studied during the final year for this purpose. This is supplemented by a choice, inter alia, of the following elective modules.
- Microcomputer Systems (Embedded Systems)
- System on Chip Design (Micro Electronics, FPGA)
- Software Engineering
- Audio and Image Processing
- Applied Optics
In addition, elective modules can be freely chosen from other areas of focus areas within the Electrical engineering programme.

Specialisation Energy and Drive Systems
The "Energy and Drive Systems" specialisation emphasises electrical drive systems, power electronics and control technology. Appropriate modules have to be studied during the final year for this purpose. This is supplemented by a choice, inter alia, of the following elective modules:
- Automation Technology
- Robotics
- Microcomputer Systems (Embedded Systems)
- System on Chip Design (Micro Electronics, FPGA)
- Sensor Technology
In addition, elective modules can be freely chosen from other areas of focus areas within the Electrical engineering programme.

Specialisation Renewable Electrical Energy Systems
The specialisation 'Electrical Renewable Energies' emphasises power and smart grids, electricity storage systems and photovoltaics. Appropriate modules have to be studied during the final year for this purpose. This is supplemented by a choice, inter alia, of the following elective modules from the Electrical engineering curriculum:
- Control Technology
- Automation Technology
- Renewable Energies
In addition, elective modules can be freely chosen from other areas of focus areas within the Electrical engineering programme.
