Admission requirements
Admission Process
A formal review of your application will be conducted by the admission office, taking various criteria into account. If your application is positively evaluated, it will be forwarded to the Institute or Centre specified in your application. The evaluation by the Institute or Centre will consider your academic background and interests and may include an interview, a presentation of your bachelor’s thesis, or other methods to assess your technical knowledge. Interviews can be conducted online.
Please note that there are usually more applications than available spots for master’s students, so acceptance cannot be guaranteed due to limited study places. Once accepted by the Institute or Centre, you will be enrolled in the MSE programme.
Your application will only be processed once all required documents have been uploaded to the admission portal and the admission processing fee of CHF 100.– has been paid.
Please also note that ZHAW does not grant any scholarships.
Admission Requirements
For Students Holding a Bachelor's Degree from a Swiss University of Applied Sciences
Graduates with a very good bachelor's degree (grade A or B) in a relevant technical or engineering field from a Swiss University of Applied Sciences are eligible for the admission procedure.
Students with grade C may be considered "sur dossier", provided they complete an additional post-qualification of at least 10 ECTS. A letter of recommendation from a university lecturer is an advantage.
For Students Holding a Bachelor's Degree from a Foreign University
The study programme administration may admit applicants without an established grade "sur dossier" (record of achievement), but an excellent completion of the basic study programme is expected.
Applicants from abroad must hold a very good bachelor's degree (comparable to grades A or B in Switzerland) from a recognized university in a relevant technical or engineering field.
