Using LoRa/LoRaWAN with Harvested Energy

LP-WPAN systems such as LoRa, Sigfox typically need 100 to 1000 times more energy than PAN systems (Bluetooth Smart, ZigBee …). They use low data rates, which allows them to have ranges of several kilometers. This results in long transmission times and thus increases the energy requirements.

The module shown here harvests energy indoors or outdoors using relatively small and low-cost components. Several messages can be transmitted using LoRa, even when the best range is selected (+14 dBm, SF12).
