Wind energy in alpine areas: energy yield before scenery impact?
An analysis of the wind energy projects in the region of Goms shows opportunities and risks, leads to new research questions and finally results in the creation of a checklist as an aid for planning and realisation of further projects.
Wind energy in Switzerland has some limitations due to meteorological, technical and socioeconomical issues. Acceptance, a key question in the planning phase, was examined with concerns regarding location, technological and economic efficiency of the installations.
The interdisciplinary approach (Institute for Sustainable Development, INE; Center for Aviation, ZAV; Institut for Energysystems and Fluid-Engineering, IEFE; Center for Product and Process Development, ZPP) demonstrates possible win-win situations which enable an socially responsible increase of energy production from renewable sources.
