E-Drive: Electrical scooters of the latest generation

The aim of the E-Drive project was to develop an electrical drive system for motorised two- and three-wheelers. The most innovative part of the project is its vehicle and fleet management system.

The aim of the E-Drive project was to develop an electrical drive system for motorised two- and three-wheelers. The system, which is composed of a drive module and its energy supply, is intended to be a real alternative to conventional, combustion-based motors. The most innovative part of the project is its vehicle and fleet management system, which optimises the energy consumption and enhances driving comfort.

The drive module consists of three main components: the motor, its controller and the fleet management system. The motor was designed for performances up to 18kW. The controller was designed for the specific needs of an electric motorcycle and stands out for its compact design in relation to its high load capacity (up to 360A @ 50VDC).

The fleet management system enables GPRS transmission of the vehicle's position and of CAN-compatible modules to a communication server. Data collected through this system can then be processed and used for optimisation of the fleet management.

Factors such as energy consumption, recuperation and power supply of all vehicle components were given special attention in the E-Drive project. Different measures were taken to design the new system to be as efficient as possible.
