EFSA has launched a public consultation on the «Draft guidance on the characterisation and risk assessment of microorganisms used in the food chain».
Interested parties are invited to submit their comments by the indicated deadline (07/02/2025). When submitting the comments, specific reference to the line and page numbers to which the comments relate must be made.
This guidance document is highly relevant to precision fermentation derived ingredients produced using genetically modified microorganisms as well as microbial biomasses in terms of future requirements to support identity and safety of microorganisms used in the food chain.
