Quantum Machine Learning is on the Rise
How practical are quantum computers? Researchers from ZHAW Datalab under supervision of Ruedi Füchslin (IAMP) and Kurt Stockinger (InIT) demonstrate that quantum machine learning algorithms can outperform their classical counterparts. This is the first ZHAW publication on quantum computing. The paper called «Experimental Evaluation of Quantum Machine Learning Algorithms» analyzes quantum support vector machines and quantum neural networks both on a quantum simulator as well as on a real quantum computer. Even though the experiments were executed on various small datasets, the researchers show very promising results in the fast-growing field of quantum computing.
